Resolution Revolution

Every New Year’s Eve we traditionally make resolutions for the New Year, to try and better ourselves.  Well, if you’re anything like me, the track record of resolutions goes something like this:
January - I’m all fired up;
February - I tend to slip up occasionally;
March - I slip up on a regular basis;
April - what’s a resolution???
A recent survey found that most people tend to stick to their resolutions for about 6 months. Well, at least I’m not a statistic!
So, the question is, how do we motivate ourselves to stick to our resolutions?
I believe, the trick is to turn our resolution into a goal. This means that you have to write it down on a piece of paper and note the projected date of completion. Next, break down your goal into smaller goals, note the steps you need to take every month, every week and every day to accomplish your goal.  Be flexible and realistic with your dates to accommodate life’s many surprises.
So, what if you slip up?
Well, congratulations, you are human!!!
Just get back up, dust yourself off and get back in the saddle again.
If you’re a visual person, cut out pictures of your goals and paste them on a poster board or start a scrapbook. Jot down even the smallest success and then look at it on a daily basis.
Enlist friends and family to help you achieve your goals.
